In July, Knox News exclusively reported the department began looking into Holt’s conduct after he was accused of making racist comments in a parking lot after a wedding. Holt is white. A police report says he repeatedly made racist remarks to a Black man who also attended same wedding. After warning Holt to quit making comments, the man knocked Holt out.
The man later told Knox News he and Holt served together in the Marines. According to the police report, Holt told him he “didn’t know they let Black people in the reception hall.”
